GM 8375 Thin polyester film heaters for Lipo(Pair)

Heaters for LiPo oven.

A LiPo performs at maximum energy (minimum internal resistance) at about 45 deg C.

Heating a Lipo before a race will deliver more punch and a faster top speed.

The heater will improve the power delivery of any LiPo

It takes a while to heat the inner LiPo so the LiPo should be kept on the heater at all times and taken out and put in car just before the race.

Keep the next LiPo in the sack at all times and during charge.

Keep the heater on all the time.

If the ambient temp is low, cover the LiPo sack with a towel or something to minimise heat loss.

The GM set contains:

2 thin polyester heaters - Each : 18 x 6.5cm. Wired in parallel with 3.5mm tube connector.

Resistance: 3.33Ohm 

Amps: 3.6Amp at 12volt,  2.2Amp at 7.2 volt.

Rating: 40 watts total at 12volt

Adhesive backed, can be stuck inside a LiPo sack or to the inside lid of a small box.

The plates will reach 100degC with 12volt or 65degC with a 7.2V source.

Option 1: Safe method of heating.

The heaters can be rewired in series for safe and cheap heating.

When rewired in series they can be permanently connected to a 12 volt source and will heat to about 40 deg C. and Lipo will not be overheated but warmed to about 30deg C.

The series resistance is about 12ohm so the current draw is 1 amp and total power is 12 watts.

To rewire heaters , cut the 2 wires and reconnect as shown:

Option 2: High power heating: (Heaters as supplied )

Note:   If using in a LiPo sack you must use a Thermal cutoff such as a tyre warmer controller set to no more than 45deg C.

If you set the temperature higher the LiPo may start to swell.

If the Lipo swells it will go down when cooled, but the case may be deformed.

The Lipo will still perform perfectly.

Note: The heaters will reach 100deg C with a 12volt source, so they must not touch the LiPo. They will heat the inside of the box as an oven and  the temperature of the LiPo must not exceed 45 deg C.

Use a temperature probe to determine how hot the inside of your box oven becomes.

If the LiPo is heated above 45 deg C it will start to swell which will deform the hard case.

The LiPo inside the case will return to normal size after cooling down, but the case may still be deformed.

Note: Do not press the heaters onto the Lipo as localised heatspots could cause the Lipo inside to swell or deform.

Note: You can charge the LiPo while heating and the cutoff will still be 8.40 volts (for a 2S)
